About Juliet du Preez

Hello to you.

I began, post university, as a civil engineer. Once in the work place, I found that I didn't enjoy the engineering. I tried a number of different fields - nothing really grabbed me. Finally I landed a job researching and reporting on a wide range of topics – much more suited to me. After four years with the company I was feeling stressed and tired. I resigned to study and practice specialized kinesiology (an holistic, alternative therapy, not to be confused with the study of movement).

It was during this time that I really started my self-discovery work - courses, books, meditation and the kinesiology (this is both mind and body therapy). As a person I grew significantly and I tapped into all sorts of aspects of myself that I would never have thought possible.

Kinesiology is a wonderful form of healing, but I never succeeded in stepping away from clients' pain and not taking it on myself. So, I returned to the research job on a part-time basis. However, things had changed: I had grown. Slowly I started to realise that writing is my passion. Yes, I was writing in my job, but not fully in the way that I wanted. (And I’m not a corporate person). So, I started freelance writing on the side and, well, here I am now, a full-time freelance writer.

I have not left behind my personal development, in fact, it interests me more and more – hence my writings on this topic. I have learnt so much over the years that it is something I love to share and discuss. In fact I have a blog if you want to take a further look: Life Made Great Blog

What I’d like to share here though, is: Find out what you really want. Determine what you need to do to get it and manage your time around that. It’s the way you will find the most fulfillment in life.

-Juliet
