How to Organize Your Home
Let’s face it, we all get busy and have jobs, kids, and a growing number of tasks to run after and complete, so our home is the first place to be neglected when it comes to true organization. When our kids are younger, we decide early on that spending time with them is far more important than getting the dishes done or completing a task. Through time, this philosophy of an over packed schedule can lead to complete chaos that results out of a sheer lack of organization. Staying on top of organization in your home can be a lot of work, but well worth it in the end. Here are some proven tasks that will help you organize your home: Avoid the Clutter at All CostsHere’s a good rule of thumb to live by, when you use something just put it away afterwards. So many of us accumulate a lot of clutter because we use something, then put it down for a quick second and neglect to ever retrieve it again afterwards. This is how clutter happens and it just builds upon itself, feeling as though the piles may multiply at times. If you use a nail polish bottle, can opener, or any other object in the house, just put it away upon using it. Simple but highly effective towards eliminating the clutter that can build in all of our homes from time to time. Dedicate a Home for EverythingNo matter how big or small the item is within your home, dedicate a spot to it and stick with it. Be sure that everybody in the house knows where the scissors go, what we do with supplies we stock up on, or where the laundry basket should go when you’re doing using it. Have a spot for each and every item in your home and then be sure to put everything back where it belongs. Setting up these “special homes” for everything can be the hard part, but if you stick with it, your life will be much easier. Make the Most of Your SpaceEvery home can be more organized by getting the most out of your space. Even the smallest of space can truly be opened up with some shelving units and containers to hold the odds and ends. Go to a local supply store and get some organizational crates, shelves, and containers that can help you to put things away rather than having them sit out. This can really open up a space so much more, give you more room, and help you to truly keep organized. Get Everyone in on the ActIf everyone in the family has a role in the organization process, they are far more likely to stick with it for the long term. Let everyone work on the task of organization and pick spots that work best for their own items. Then if you need to reorganize things along the way, work together to figure out how to make things work in the best way possible. The more you can incorporate teamwork towards a goal of organization, the more likely you are to stick with it in the long term and end up with the home of your dreams.
