Stop Worrying
It’s the concept of unrealistically high expectations or standards that can be either imposed or self-imposed. You know what we get when we don’t have clear plans and directions? Increased dissatisfaction and frustration! We will tend to the delay in starting a project simply because you feel besieged by the sheer amount of work involved. To solve this problem, NEVER think the project as a whole. You should just start with that imperfect step, following your plan. Rather than thinking of how it will work out. We only have control of our actions, and not the consequences, remember that. Resolve it by making an effort to praise your own work and to understand that it is just not possible to eradicate all mistakes when completing a task. You can change the mistakes anytime. So why worry so much about it? Below are more simple steps you can take for overcoming procrastination.
Stop Thinking of Your Tasks as Unmanageable Devils
You have to change your mindset that a project will take the pleasure out of life. This will cause you to procrastinate. Put pleasure in while doing your project! Think about the pleasures you can pursue after you have completed your task. Stop thinking of a project too negatively or you’ll never succeed in overcoming procrastination. Change this mindset! Have you been in circumstances where you felt overwhelmed easily? Take time to relax. There is nothing wrong with it. Work effectively! When you stress out, you don't get many results. Remove any perception of situations being stressful, intolerable and unfair. When you whine and complain about such stressful tasks, you start to feel that it seems reasonable to put it off until you feel better about it. The key point to take note is that the more of what you focus on, the more of it you will get. So… tackle the ROOT of the problem, break unmanageable tasks into small bite-sized chunks, and deal with it!
Get Your Emotions Right
If we’re unhappy with an individual, we often deny them our best efforts as a way of “getting even”. Try and deal with your emotions before starting your work. You can resolve it by understanding that you are the one who’s really upset and that you’re not going to let these individuals stand in the way of your success. Only you can control your emotions! Keep Mahatma Ghandi's words in mind, “Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”
Make Sure You DO NOT Engage In Self-Downing
When you put yourself down continually and doubt your skills, abilities and your ability to succeed, you’re merely leading yourself to believing that you get by on luck. In the long run, you will actually truly believe that you are capable of only minimal levels of achievement or none at all! This results in procrastination because on a subconscious level, you will seek ways to become less successful and visible. Resolve this immediately! Make sure you find the source of your discomfort. When you solve this problem you will find yourself overcoming procrastination almost automatically.
