Student Time Management Tips

Have you ever caught yourself running out of time to meet deadlines?

With so much homework, assignments and revisions, many students are facing this problem as well...

So are you interested to know how you can skip all this unnecessary rushing and anxiety?

Here are important student time management tips to consider:

Don't Procrastinate

Don't postpone a task which you can do today. Remember, if you really intend to postpone a task the next day when, in fact, you can do it for today, the tendency is, tasks may pile up and you can't finish it all to meet deadlines. This causes stress and the job won't be finished with good quality.

Know How to Use Your Time

You may find yourself flooded with long list of tasks. Don't worry. Just sit down and review everything on your list.

Next, you have to organize your tasks and then prioritize which one should be done first. Number your tasks and rank them according to their importance so you know which task has to be done first.

Being a student myself before, the best thing you can do is to study everyday so you don't have to rush like ants on hot stove when examinations are around the corner. As you may already know, the mind doesn't react well to these exam stress and last-minute cramming of information. Instead, it learns best when it's relaxed and focused.

Develop "study time blocks". Everyday, set aside some time to study and review your subjects.

Again, always remember to strictly follow your schedule. There might be other distractions like a friend inviting you to a party but you'll have to prioritize your work. No matter how hard it is, learn to say "No" to common distractions like unnecessary gatherings with your friends or watching a TV program beyond your planned schedule.

Set Realistic Goals

There are times that we feel like doing everything and we're so positive we can finish it. Well, the sad reality of life is, 'We can't do everything at once'. So, be realistic in setting your goal.

As much as you may feel like playing your favorite sport, watching the latest movie or going out with friends, you must always put your goals as the top priority. It's really quite impossible to do all these all within the same day unless you have a carefully planned schedule. Or else, you might find yourself never finding the time to study or revise your work.

Remember, it's either you set your schedule, or your friends set it for you. If you want to excel in your studies to top the class, you'll have to set your schedule and follow it religiously. After all, following a schedule doesn't mean giving up those activities that bring you fun. You can still go out with your friends, just that you'll have to know when you need to get home.

Again, I would like to highlight the importance of managing time, especially in the case of students with so much work and revisions to do.
